Shrub pruning in London

Careful cutting around the shrubs you want to keep.

Shrub pruning in London can be included in a garden-maintenance tidy-up. Show us the shrubs that need attention and explain what you want to keep. We agree the pruning priorities before starting, rather than cutting everything back in the same way.

Hedge being shaped beside garden cuttings

Retained shrubs come first in the discussion.

Some enquiries concern a garden that needs a regular tidy; others follow months without care. The same description can hide different amounts of work. Photographs or a site visit help us understand the current garden and estimate the hours. Where dense growth has made the space difficult to work in, the initial clearance of a safe working area comes before the agreed garden tasks.

Use the walk round to agree the cutting brief.

The walk round with the customer, where possible, gives us a chance to identify retained plants and confirm the priorities. We bring a professional tool set including secateurs and loppers, alongside the other gardening equipment in our van. The tools need no customer water or power. We carry out the agreed work, gather clippings and sweep paths before checking the visit against what was discussed.

What to agree before booking.

Agree the retained planting

Point out what you want to keep during the initial discussion or walk round. The brief should reflect your priorities for the garden.

Separate shrubs and hedges

Shrub pruning and hedge trimming and shaping are named maintenance tasks. Describe both if they are needed rather than using one broad cutting-back label.

Check the agreed work

The finish includes gathered clippings and swept paths, followed by a check with the customer where possible. New tasks need discussion before proceeding.
