Garden paths in London

Photograph the starting and finishing points and the ground between them. A simple line on a garden photograph can explain your intended route. Tell us who uses it and whether you move bins, a mower or other equipment along the path. That information is useful when considering the space needed.

Show nearby borders, tree roots visible at the surface and any drains or access covers. Narrow London gardens can make the route compete with planting or a seating area, so include a view of the surrounding layout. Take a separate photograph of the entrance and any steps materials would need to travel over.

We look at the proposed line, changes in ground level and the connections at either end. Existing wet patches, uneven surfaces and the condition beneath old paving all help define the assessment. The aim is a route that makes sense in use, not simply a strip of paving placed between two points.
