Fence repairs in London

A damaged section does not always mean the whole fence needs replacing. Fence repairs begin by looking at what has failed and whether the surrounding fencing can still support a useful repair.

Timber fence being repaired

What the service covers

The first question with a damaged fence is what has failed. A broken section, loose connection or movement along the boundary can need different work. We inspect the affected area in relation to the rest of the fence so the repair addresses the problem you are actually having.

The condition either side matters. Retaining sound fencing can make sense, but attaching a new repair to deteriorated parts may leave the underlying weakness unresolved. We explain what looks suitable for repair and when a wider replacement would give the job a more sensible scope.

How it works

Send a close photograph of the damage and another showing the full fence run. Note whether the problem appeared suddenly or has become more noticeable over time. If several sections move, identify each one rather than photographing only the most obvious defect. Do not push or lean on unstable fencing to demonstrate it.

Leave the damaged area accessible for assessment and keep people away from loose sections. Tell us about plants growing through the fence or items resting against it. In small London gardens, the damage can be partly hidden behind sheds or dense growth; a view of those restrictions helps us plan access.

We look at the damaged parts, adjoining sections and the ground around the affected supports. We also check whether nearby planting or another structure is placing pressure on the fence. The aim is to distinguish a local defect from a problem running further along the boundary.

If the repair would alter the fence’s size or position, check with your local council about planning requirements. Confirm ownership before work on a shared boundary. After assessment, we agree the repair quotation and manage the work from start to finish, discussing any wider issues before changing the scope.

✦ BEFORE YOU BOOK

Your questions answered

Can every damaged fence be repaired?+

Some fences are suitable for a local repair; others have deterioration extending beyond the obvious break. We assess the surrounding sections and supports as well as the damaged part, then explain whether repair or replacement fits the condition.

Why do you need a wider photograph?+

A close picture shows the defect, while a wider one reveals the adjoining fence, ground and access. Together they help us judge whether the problem looks isolated and which parts of the boundary need closer inspection.

Will replacement be agreed separately?+

Yes. If replacement is the more practical option, we explain why and discuss the extent before agreeing a quotation. You can then compare the proposed work with the condition of the fence rather than decide from the damage alone.

Is a repair a fixed-price service?+

We price the repair as a job after assessing its scope. The amount of affected fencing, ground condition and ability to reach it all matter. We confirm the work in the quotation before arranging the repair.
